This year, the hackathon is centered around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants will select from a set of 7 designated SDGs and build impactful solutions addressing pressing local and global challenges through technology.

Event Structure

Codefest 2026 is organized in two progressive phases under a dual-track system designed separately for +2 students and Bachelor-level students. This ensures fair competition, inclusivity, and skill-appropriate challenges across all levels.

Phase 1 : Provincial Competition

The Provincial Competition is the first qualifying stage of Codefest 2026, conducted across all provinces of Nepal.

Teams may register through their respective colleges or as independent groups. Each team must consist of 2–4 members and will compete within their own province.

+2 Students Track

The +2 track will be conducted in a virtual format and managed by the Central Execution Committee. Participants will develop and present solutions based on assigned problem statements or guided challenge scopes. The top team from each province will qualify for the Grand Finale.

Bachelor Student Track

The Bachelor track will be conducted by the respective Provincial Committees under the guidance of Code for Change. Each province will operate under a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-based theme, encouraging localized and impactful problem-solving.

The top team from each province will qualify for the Grand Finale.

Phase 2 : Grand Finale

Winners from each province across both tracks will advance to the Grand Finale, which will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal.

In this stage:

  • Provincial winning teams compete at the national level
  • Teams work on refined problem statements and prototype development
  • Solutions are evaluated based on innovation, feasibility, and impact

The Grand Finale brings together the most outstanding teams from across the country to compete for the national title of Codefest winners.
